A Lithuanian car transporter was recently fined 6,000 euros for exceeding permitted dimensions. The police determined that the driver had unlawfully profited from this violation and ordered him to pay an amount equivalent to the full freight cost.
Our client approached us for assistance, and we filed an appeal against the police decision. In court, it was determined that this method of calculating the fine was not applicable in this case. As a result, the fine was reduced to a standard, smaller penalty for the violation.
Important to know: fines over 500 euros in Germany are often worth appealing, even if the violation is proven.
